Music Scotland

According to the Sunday Herald, Scotland is garbage if you want to be a rock star. Citing a report, Mapping the music industry in Scotland, they claim that "the country's brightest music stars - such as Travis, Shirley Manson, of Garbage, and Craig Armstrong - have excelled because they are involved in musical genres that are not in any sense uniquely Scottish." The Scottish music industry generates around £106m each year.

Perhaps as a sign of greater commitment to the music industry as well as promoting tourism, the Scottish Executive succesfully attracted the MTV Europe Music Awards to Edinburgh with support of £750,000.
