As Sean rightly points out, ticket sales will be trumpeted from the rooftops when they do go on sale. Claire also notes that tickets will go on sale 6 weeks prior to the event, information which I have seen corroborated in several authoritative places.

So... Can I ask that comments be restricted to useful information rather than requests for info - that call is loud and clear!

Hello, I think if this Paul finds out about the tickets it would be unfair to say when sales are because then all of these foreigners who don't ever want to visit Edinburgh or non Scots will just all of a sudden use the ciy to see the event. I am from Edinburgh and so are others who have asked and nothing goes on in the city so we should get first chance to enjoy it for once in our lives let us get something. Don't give out ticket information find out yourselves. Edinburgh people will understand.

No one has officially signed up to do the EMA's yet but there are rumours that Kylie and Madonna will make appearances. Tickets are not usually on sale until much closer to the event, which as you probably know is on November 6th. MTV will update it's web site as to further information on the awards as far as I know.

I e-mailed MTV Europe and they said that tickets go on sale six weeks before the event and the hotline will be aired on MTV sometime in October. As yet, no word on performers or guests - as long as Good Charlotte don't go! Hope that is helpful for you.

Hi Paul, I work at First Call Tickets and we have had a lot of cutomers come through to us saying that they are American Express Goldcard holders and are either entitled to first shout at tickets or a special offer. Do you know anything about this? Our number has been advertised as the retail outlet for this offer but we don't know anything about it. Any info would be appreciated, cheers.

American Express Platinum (maybe other card types aswell) cardholders can book tickets from early October. This is meant to be before the public sale.

I live in Leith (about 300 yards from Ocan Terminal). We all got a letter about how the MTV thing wouldn't affect us local residents and gave an email link about tickets offered to people from the area. The link doesn't work (at least tonight it doesn't). Am inclined to believe it is just to appease Edinburgh City Council and that all tickets are just going to go to MTV approved worthies and there is no point asking.

Having read all the comments, I still dont know when and where the tickets are on sale. Supposedly 6 weeks before the event...this isnt 13/10/03. Ticket prices have been quoted from 34.00-100.00. Several places have been quoted for selling tickets. I have scanned newspapers etc but no info available.

'Tickets will be going on sale mid-October but I am afraid that I do not as yet have a confirmed date. By the way, if I DO get tickets, I will be driving to Edinburgh from Bristol. Oh and by the way, they went on sale at 10am, and were sold out in about 20-25 mins I think, so they went pretty quickly. A bit of a downer to those without tickets and without American Express cards. I was pretty lucky to get in on time.

me again! yes there is also supposedly going 2 be a concert in princes st gardens on at the same time as the awards for people who did not manage to get tickets. information is not definite yet but i've heard it is to be free and there will b links on screens to the awards ceremony in the gardens. this is the information i found :

The Road ends at Edinburgh's Princes Street Gardens with a free live music performance at the same time as the awards ceremony is taking place across the city. Live shots from the ceremony will be beamed onto giant screens to make sure the 8,000-plus concert-goers don't miss any of the action as the awards are handed out.

Managed to get 4 tickets today! Got through after 15 minutes looks like I was lucky if they had sold out after 20 minutes.

I heard that the hotline for ordering tickets will be announced during TRL on Monday, and when it's announced the tickets go on sale. If that's true it seems crazy to me, there'll be a pretty slim chance of even getting through. Are they still being sold on TicketMaster on Monday? I hope so, it's my best hope!!

That number you keep giving for ticketmaster is the dominion theatre booking line. Every venue has a different number.

Ok now I'm confused as hell. I called Ticketmaster and the guy on the phone claimed they weren't gonna be the ones selling the tickets.. apparently you can ONLY get them from MTV themselves. So do we just wait for that hotline number, knowing that there are gonna be several million people trying at the same time, probably gonna be too late by then. Totally unfair on us local people having to watch all the people who reside far away getting all the tickets. I was hoping to be able to camp on some pavement and get my tickets the old fashioned way. Oh well, looks like another money making scheme for the tourist board. To have this hotline as the only means of buying them would be awful. There will be a massive overload of millions across Europe trying to get through. I mean, people could be on the off chance watching TRL on Monday, fancy going along to the awards having before known nothing about it and get through to tickets, when there are a lot of others who have been trying for months to get them and will probably end up empty handed. Its just typical that it's been made so difficult for people locally to get tickets to a big event which Scotland has been waiting a long time for.

Called ticket master this morning they say tickets are available at 5pm.I can't believe none have been put aside for edinburgh residents!

There maybe tickets set aside at a Virgin store in Edinburgh... but you have to remember it's not like there is 100's of tickets available for the public i've been to MTV when it was in Dublin and it's not a concert it's small.. so wise up guys.
Also at 5pm you won't be competeing with Europe they have a different ticket allocation which is very small amount.
No companies other than sponsers will have tickets this is why it's being dne like this... so the only other way is Ebay from personel sales.

I called Virgin in Edinburgh on Friday... and was told they would not be selling the tickets. :(

The 08706077400 number you are giving is for the Dominion Theatre booking line, not for the mtv tickets. To call ticketmaster for this, call 08704000700, which will also be selling the tickets at 5pm, as well as their website and the mtv hotline.

man, this is totally confusing. so, we dont even know if its possible to get the tickets online, or if you have to phone, coz i know if i have to phone i pretty much have no chance, the internet is my best bet. man, this sucks!

I have telephoned Ticketmaster and the gut I spoke to (manager) said they have no idea about the tickets and that they are on sale from from MTV TRL web site, so who knows
