Portable MP3 Player buyers set to boom

It seems I've missed the boat to be an early adopter of the portable mp3 player.

Informa Media Group have forecast that global sales of MP3 players will double in 2004 to more than 20 million units and will continue to grow at an average annual rate of almost 45% for the next six years. By 2010 total sales will have risen to slightly more than 194 million units.

Any suggestions for the right one to buy? It'd have to be super small and sexy. I'm not interested enough to research it so will probably end up with a Sony or Creative Labs. Can't really see myself going for an Apple iPod, I still hold a grudge against Apple for the single button mouse.
