Rumsfeld visits Abu Ghraib

Jon Snow's characterisation (via Snowmail 13th May) of Rumsfeld's impromptu trip to Iraq seems a pretty accurate portrayal of the Secretary of Defense's remarks.

Donald Rumsfeld has taken an emergency dash to Baghdad and, within moments of landing, started to talk a kind of gibberish on the tarmac, all sorts of disconnected thoughts and words cascading into hilarious sentences.
Rumsfled's remarks (civil war lessons, last best hope for mankind, "i da man" kind of thing) were a little odd
I've stopped reading the newspapers. (Laughter, cheers, applause.) It's a fact. I'm a survivor.
