It's the economy stupid?

Although Iraq seemingly remains the key to selling newspapers there have been a couple of pieces of other news in the last few days;

• UK unemployment fell by 48,000 in the three months to March taking the figure to its lowest since records began.
• the number of patients in England waiting more than six months for an operation has plummeted from 189,000 to 78,000 over the past year.

I'm not a New Labour stooge, I just want to provide some flame bait for the army of cynics and whiners. :-)
