Afghan election law disenfranchises warlordsA New Afghan election law bans warlords from taking part in politics according to Salon. "Nobody with armed forces behind them can continue their political activities," Justice Minister Abdulrahim Karimi told a new conference Sunday. The law apparently also puts a lower limit of 700 members on political parties before they can be "registered". I can't find a text of the existing laws to see how significant these changes are.
