Advancement of Human Knowledge

Meg and I both scored 2 in the BBC's weekly news quiz, but the product of all those millions of pounds we pay to the BBC (not to self: remember to pay license fee) is that there is always something new to discover on their site(s). Just found 10 things we didn't know this time last week which is a regular column recording advancement in human knowledge during the last 7 days. This week we (collectively) have learned, amongst other things, that;


  • Donald Rumsfeld (US Defense Secretary) and Geoff Hoon (UK Defence Secretary), took time to warm to each other. "It was like getting two pandas to mate," a British official recalled to the Guardian.

  • Iran and China are among the first countries to crack down on bloggers. (like bloggers need cracked down upon)
